Collaborations with the Maryland Department of Correction

Primary Care: The JACQUES Initiative is one of 4 Ryan White providers who are contracted to provide primary care and case management services for uninsured men and women released from the corrections system. Staff from the JACQUES Initiative meet with the client, infection control coordinators and social workers while the inmate is still incarcerated and participate in discharge planning. This allows our staff to build a rapport and trust with the individual at least 6-12 weeks prior to release. Released inmates are seen in clinic 24-48 hrs post release. The program is recognized as a model for the state for linking uninsured HIV infected inmates into care.
